The need for Vitamins |
||||||||||||||||
Every different food we eat provides unique nutrients to the diet, which is why it’s important to eat a variety of foods from the major food groups (vegetables, breads and cereals, fruit, dairy, meats/alternatives and healthy fats) every day. People who choose these foods daily are likely to be getting enough vitamins and minerals to meet their requirements. But the reality is, many people today have less time to take care of their health, whether it be from work, family or other social commitments. In cases like these, supplements can provide your body with a boost that it wouldn’t otherwise get from food alone. Vitamins participate in hundreds of common chemical reactions within the body that allow normal growth and development. B vitamins are particularly important for the body as they are involved in metabolising the foods we eat and allow the release of energy from foods.
